『からたち』～大澤菜穂子～ Nahoko Osawa works at KARATACHI

彼女との出会いは、熊本県立水俣高等学校に通学していた時代に遡ります。
栗色の髪の毛を、ネイビーのサテンリボンでポニーテールに結わえ、少し大きめな制服を着た彼女は、颯爽と自転車で通学していました。大きくキラキラした目が、笑うとくしゃっとなるのがなんとも可愛らしく、その笑顔で沢山の人の心を鷲掴みにし、いつの間にか彼女の周りには人が集まるという魅力の持ち主でした。

そんな彼女が高校、大学を卒業し、様々な人生経験を踏まえ、水俣に戻ってきたのは 30代になったばかりの頃。 今後の人生や家族の事、地元水俣の事をふと考えた時、出て来た答えの一つが、実家の事業を引き継ぐという選択だった。

My first first meeting time with her back to the Minamata high school days, Her maroon hair were made a ponytail with navy satin ribbon. She was wearing a slightly larger uniform and going to school by bicycle.  I like her big sparkling eyes and her smiles grasped the hearts of many people. A lot of classmates gathered around her.

After graduating from a high school and university, and having various life experiences,, she returned to Minamata when she was just in her thirties. When she thought about her future life and families, she chose to take over the business of her parents. 

実家の事業とは、熊本県水俣市袋の茂道という小さい漁村で、農薬を使わない柑橘類を販売している仕事で、その始まりは「水俣病事件」がきっかけとなっている。
当時、海を奪われた漁師たちは「陸に上がる」選択を強いられ、生活の糧として甘夏みかんを作り始めた。 

水俣病患者・故杉本雄さん栄子さんと、大澤忠夫が1979年6月に「反農連（反農薬水俣袋地区生産者連合）」を結成し「本来の人間らしい生活をしながら、弱く切り棄てられる生産者同士の絆を深め、 水俣のみかんを通じ、全国に水俣病事件を伝え、自らの生活を据え返す契機にしたい」 という想いとともに、農薬を使わない甘夏みかんの自主販売を開始した。

Her parents’ job was to sell citrus without pesticides in a small fishing village, Modou, Fukuro, Minamata, Kumamoto. Selling organic citrus began with the Minamata disease incident. At that time, many fishermen deprived local sea because of the Minamata disease, and they started cultivating sweet summer oranges to live on.

Deceased Sugimoto, Takeshi and his wife Eiko who were both the victim of Minamata disease and her father Osawa, Tadao started HANNOUREN, anti-pesticide Minamata Fukuro farmer union, on June 1979. They started producing and selling oranges without pesticides with thoughts of deepening the bonds between farmers who are weakly cut off while living like humans and conveying the Minamata disease incident nationwide through Minamata oranges and using it as an opportunity to reverse the life.

あの時から40年という時間を経て、みかんの樹々も幼木から成木へ 若かった生産者も世代交代が始まりました。 2016年新たに「からたち」という団体を立ち上げ、 これからもこの地で農薬を使わない柑橘を栽培・販売していくことを決めました。

 これまでの「水俣病→水俣のみかん」という入り口から、「美味しいみかん→水俣のみかん」「無農薬みかん→水俣のみかん」という従来とは違う、水俣のこと水俣病のことを知ってもらうきっかけになれればと思います。 但し、水俣のみかんを通して、水俣病のような悲劇が二度と起こらない社会を作りたい。 その想いは、会を立ち上げた生産者たちの気持ちと大きく変わらないと思います。

40 years since then, young orange trees became mature trees and generational change of farmers has started. In 2016, establishing a new group called “Karatachi” and deciding to continue to grow and sell citrus fruits that do not use pesticides.

Karatachi wants to prepare many entrances to meet Minamata, Minamata disease and Minamamata oranges. Through selling Minamata oranges, They want to create a society where tragedy like Minamata disease will never happen again.
